vāyúr mā́ntárikṣeṇaítasyā́ diśáḥ pā́tu tásmin kráme tásmiñ chraye tā́m púraṃ práimi | sá mā rakṣatu sá mā gopāyatu tásmā ātmā́naṃ pári dade svā́hā
May Vāyu, with the mid-air, guard me from this quarter. In that I step; in that I take refuge; unto that stronghold I go forth. May he protect me; may he watch over me: to him I wholly commit my very self—svāhā.
Rishi: Atharvanic/Aṅgirasa tradition (general for AV protective hymns; specific attribution varies by anukramaṇī)
Devata: Vāyu (with antarikṣa as his sphere of operation)
Chandas: Mixed/prose-like yajus-style cadence within AV; often treated as anustubh-adjacent in recensional counting
Primary: shanta
Secondary: bhayankara
