Frequently Asked Questions

It is recited to generate medhā—clear intelligence, strong memory, and effective speech—so that what one has heard and learned stays firmly within and works successfully in recitation or study.

Vācaspati is the ‘Lord of Speech’, commonly identified with Bṛhaspati, the priestly power of inspired formulation. He is asked to return with a godlike mind and to hold learning steady within the practitioner.
