శోణా, జ్యోతీరథా, నర్మదా, సురసా, మందాకినీ, దశార్ణా, చిత్రకూటా, తమసా, పిప్పలా, కరతోయా, పిశాచికా, చిత్రోత్పలా, విశాలాంజులా, బాలుకా, వాహినీ, శుక్తిమతీ, విరజా, పంకినీ, రిరీ, కుహూ—ఇవి ఋక్షపర్వతమునుండి పుట్టిన నదులు. మణిజాలా, శుభా, తాపీ, పయోష్ణీ, శీఘ్రోదా, వేష్ణా, పాశా, వైతరణీ, వేదీ, పాలీ, కుముద్వతీ, తోయా, దుర్గా, అంత్యా, గిరా—ఇవి వింధ్య పాదముల నుండి ఉద్భవించునవి. గోదావరీ, భీమరథీ, కృష్ణా, వేణా, వంజులా, తుంగభద్రా, సుప్రయోగా, వాహ్యా, కావేరీ—ఇవి సహ్య పాదముల నుండి పుట్టినవి.
