Sukta 17

हस्ते॑नै॒व ग्रा॒ह्यऽआ॒धिर॑स्या ब्रह्मजा॒येति॒ चेदवो॑चत्। न दू॒ताय॑ प्र॒हेया॑ तस्थ ए॒षा तथा॑ रा॒ष्ट्रं गु॑पि॒तं क्ष॒त्रिय॑स्य

Sanskrit recitationAtharva Veda 5.17.3

hasténaivá grāhyò ’ā́dhir asyā brahmajā́yéti céd ávocāt | ná dūtā́ya prahéyā tastha eṣā́ táthā rāṣṭráṃ gupitáṃ kṣatríyasya

By the hand alone is her pledge to be taken, if one pronounce, ‘She is the Brahman’s Wife.’ She is not to be sent away to a messenger: thus she stood; thus is the Kshatriya’s realm kept guarded.

‘ఆమె బ్రహ్మజాయా’ అని ఎవరు ఉచ్చరిస్తే, ఆమె యొక్క పణం/బంధం (ఆధి) చేతితోనే గ్రహించాలి. దూతకు పంపి ఆమెను త్యజించరాదు; ఆమె అలాగే నిలిచింది. ఇలానే క్షత్రియుని రాష్ట్రం రక్షితంగా ఉంటుంది.
