Sukta 11
त्वं ह्य१ङ्ग व॑रुण॒ ब्रवी॑षि॒ पुन॑र्मघेष्वव॒द्यानि॒ भूरि॑ । मो षु प॒णींर॒भ्ये॒३ताव॑तो भू॒न्मा त्वा॑ वोचन्नरा॒धसं॒ जना॑सः
tváṃ hí aṅgá varuṇa bravī́ṣi púnar maghéṣv avadyā́ni bhū́ri | mó ṣú paṇī́n abhy ètā́vato bhūn mā́ tvā vocann arā́dhasaṃ jánāsaḥ ||
For thou, I pray, O Varuṇa, dost declare again abundant faults amid the gifts. Press not the Paṇis further than this; lest the people call thee ‘unsuccessful in granting’.
ఎందుకంటే, ఓ వరుణా, నీవే దానాల మధ్య మళ్లీ మళ్లీ అనేక దోషాలను ప్రకటిస్తున్నావు. పణులను ఈ పరిమితికి మించి మరింతగా నొక్కవద్దు; లేదంటే ప్రజలు నిన్ను ‘దానం చేయలేని వాడు/అసఫల దాత’ అని పలుకుదురు.
