Sukta 9.89
सिंहं नसन्त मध्वो अयासं हरिमरुषं दिवो अस्य पतिम् । शूरो युत्सु प्रथमः पृच्छते गा अस्य चक्षसा परि पात्युक्षा ॥
siṃháṃ nasanta mádhvo ayā́saṃ hárim aruṣáṃ divó asyá pátim | śū́ro yútsu prathamáḥ pṛ́cchate gā́ asyá cákṣasā pári pāty ukṣā́ ||
அவர்கள் அவனைச் சிங்கத்தைப் போல அணுகுகிறார்கள்—மதுவின் இனிய ஆனந்தத்தில் சோர்வில்லாதவன்; பொன்னிற-பச்சை, செம்மைத் தழல், இந்த விண்ணின் அதிபதி. போரில் முதன்மையான வீரன் அவன்; ‘கா’—கதிர்கள்/பசுக்கள்—அவற்றைத் தேடுகிறான்; தன் பார்வையால் ‘உக்ஷா’ (காளை-வலிமை) சுற்றிலும் உலாவுகிறது.
