श्रेष्ठं यविष्ठमतिथिं स्वाहुतं जुष्टं जनाय दाशुषे । देवाँ अच्छा यातवे जातवेदसमग्निमीळे व्युष्टिषु ॥
śréṣṭhaṃ yáviṣṭham átithiṃ svā́hutaṃ júṣṭaṃ jánāya dāśúṣe | devā́m̐ ácchā yā́tave jā́tavedasam agním īḷe vyùṣṭiṣu ||
நான் அக்னியைப் போற்றுகிறேன்—மிகச் சிறந்தவர், யவிஷ்ட (மிக இளையவர்), அதிதி; ஸ்வாஹுதி மூலம் நன்கு அழைக்கப்பட்டவர், தானம் செய்பவர்களுக்குப் பிரியமாய் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்படுபவர். தேவர்களை இங்கு அழைத்து வர வல்ல ஜாதவேதஸ் அவர்; உஷஸ்களின் தொடர்ந்த உதயங்களில் நான் அந்த அக்னியையே வேண்டுகிறேன்.
