இந்தச் சுருக்கமான அதர்வவேதப் பைஷஜ்ய–ரக்ஷா ஸூக்தம் பிராணன் (உயிர்ச் சுவாசம்) என்பதைக் நேரடியாக அழைத்து, நோயாளியின் உடலுக்குள் அது நிலையாகவும் அச்சமற்றதாகவும் காயமின்றியும் இருக்குமாறு ஆணையிடுகிறது. நோயாளியின் உயிர்மூச்சை மீறமுடியாத பிரபஞ்ச மற்றும் சமூக முன்மாதிரிகள்—அஹஃ–ராத்ரீ (பகல்–இரவு), பிரஹ்மன் மற்றும் க்ஷத்ர, கடந்தகாலம் மற்றும் எதிர்காலம்—இவற்றுடன் ஒத்திசைவாக்குவதன் மூலம், அதிர்ச்சி, பதற்றம், மேலும் வீழ்ச்சிக்கு முன் நிகழும் அபாயகரமான ‘பிராணன் பறந்து போதல்’ (விலகல்) ஆகியவற்றைத் தடுக்கிறது. ‘யதா… ஏவ…’ எனும் மீள்மீளச் சொல்லப்படும் நிலைநிறுத்தும் ஒப்புமைகளில்தான் இதன் வலிமை உள்ளது; அவை சடங்கின் வழியாக பிராணனை மீண்டும் உறுதி மற்றும் தொடர்ச்சியில் ‘நிறுத்தி’ விடுகின்றன.

अभय प्राप्तिः। यथा॒ द्यौश्च॑ पृथि॒वी च॒ न बि॑भी॒तो न रिष्य॑तः । ए॒वा मे॑ प्राण॒ मा बि॑भेः
வானமும் பூமியும் இரண்டும் அஞ்சாததுபோலும், சேதமடையாததுபோலும்; அதுபோல, ஹே பிராணா, எனக்காக—அஞ்சாதே.
Mantra 2
यथाह॑श्च॒ रात्री॑ च॒ न बि॑भी॒तो न रिष्य॑तः । ए॒वा मे॑ प्राण॒ मा बि॑भेः
பகலும் இரவும் அஞ்சாதது போலவும், தீங்கு அடையாதது போலவும், என் பிராணனே, நீ அஞ்சாதே.

यथा॒ सूर्य॑श्च च॒न्द्रश्च॒ न बि॑भी॒तो न रिष्य॑तः । ए॒वा मे॑ प्राण॒ मा बि॑भेः
சூரியனும் சந்திரனும் அஞ்சாதது போலவும், தீங்கு அடையாதது போலவும், என் பிராணனே, நீ அஞ்சாதே.

உண்மையும் பொய்யும் அஞ்சாததுபோலும், சேதமடையாததுபோலும்—அவ்வாறே, என் பிராணா, நீ அஞ்சாதே.

यथा॑ भू॒तं च॒ भव्यं॑ च॒ न बि॑भी॒तो न रिष्य॑तः । ए॒वा मे॑ प्राण॒ मा बि॑भेः
கடந்ததும் வரவிருப்பதும் அஞ்சாததுபோலும், சேதமடையாததுபோலும்—அவ்வாறே, என் பிராணா, நீ அஞ்சாதே.
It is used to steady and retain prāṇa (vital breath) when a person is frightened, weak, or at risk of collapse—removing fear and guarding against harm.
These are presented as stable, unharmed powers. The mantra transfers that same steadiness and inviolability to the patient’s life-breath through repeated comparison.
No substances are required by the hymn itself. It can be performed purely by recitation, with optional calming supports like sprinkling clean water if one follows local practice.
