Sukta 8.7
सृजन्ति रश्मिमोजसा पन्थां सूर्याय यातवे । ते भानुभिर्वि तस्थिरे ॥
sṛjánti raśmím ójasā panthā́ṃ sū́ryāya yā́tave | té bhānúbhir ví tasthire ||
Силою они высвобождают луч, прокладывая путь Солнцу, чтобы идти; своими сияниями они широко простёрлись, утверждая светозарную стезю.
By their force they release the ray and make a path for the Sun to travel; by their beams they spread out and stand wide.
The Maruts as inner energies break open the concealed radiance (raśmi) and clear the way for the solar consciousness (Sūrya) to move in the being. Their ‘beams’ (bhānubhiḥ) are the multiple illuminations—insights, intuitions, right perceptions—that widen the field of awareness and establish a luminous path where previously there was obstruction or confusion.
Illumination is not merely received; it is prepared. Dynamic, disciplined energies must clear the path so the higher light can travel freely through the system.
opening the way, illumination, solar ascent, knowledge vs obscurity
Kāṇva-style Marut poetry often links Maruts with opening paths for Sūrya/Indra—psychologically, preparing instruments for illumination.
The seer frames a key yogic principle: force (ojas) must serve light (Sūrya), not ego; energies become liberators of the ray.
They clear atmospheric obstructions and make space for the Sun’s course; allies of the solar order.
Dynamic purification and channel-clearing: converting raw vital force into a luminous instrument that supports higher mind.
Marut praise in contexts seeking clearing of obstacles and successful progression of the rite; supportive to solar/Indra themes

4 × ~11
Two strong action statements followed by a widening cadence (‘vi tasthire’).
Promotes clarity and spaciousness; good for ‘opening’ sessions—dispelling mental fog and creating a felt inner path.
Supports the solarizing function of the rite: the Maruts prepare the way for Sūrya (illumined consciousness) by clearing and establishing paths.
When invoking breakthrough, opening, and right course—symbolically ‘making the sun’s path’
Stotra to energize and ‘open’ the ritual field
Use before study, decision-making, or meditation to clear confusion and invite illumined guidance.
: √sṛj ‘let go, send forth, create’ (3pl). : raśmi- ‘ray, rein’ (acc. sg.); the ‘rein’ sense hints at ‘directed line’ → ray as directed light. : ojas- ‘vigor’ (instr. ojasā). : path (acc. panthām), PIE *pent(h)- ‘path’ (cf. Greek póntos ‘sea’ as ‘way’, German Pfad). √sthā (t) from PIE *steh₂- ‘stand’.
knowledge-ray (raśmi) as release of illumination, path-making as r̥ta’s guidance toward truth-consciousness
Strong: making the Sun’s path is establishing ṛta’s luminous movement in the being.
The ray released is satya’s line of sight; truth becomes traversable as a path.
Light’s emergence through clearing of coverings; manifestation as widening radiance.
Integral yoga reading: life-force purified becomes ally of illumination; tapas serves truth.
Morning/forenoon implied by solar movement
Sun = illumined consciousness; ray = insight; path = channel of right movement; Maruts = energizing forces clearing the way.
Release the inner ray and open a path for solar clarity to move through mind and life.
Ajna (illumination) and Vishuddha (clear channel/‘path’ of expression)
Bhrāmarī (gentle humming) or silent ‘beam-breath’: inhale imagining a ray rising, exhale widening it across the brow; 9–18 rounds.
Luminous widening (prakāśa + vistar)
Chant, then visualize a straight golden path from heart to brow to crown. Offer the life-force’s restlessness into that path; wait for a ‘solar’ directive—simple, bright, and quiet.
Notated svaras not provided; emphasize action verbs with a slight rise: sṛjánti, kṛṇvánti (implied), tásthire.
Keep compound clarity: sūryāya yātave (sū-ryā-ya | yā-ta-ve).
sṛjanti: vocalic ṛ in sṛ-, raśmim: ś palatal; final -m nasal, ojasā: long ā, bhānubhiḥ: long ā; bh voiced aspirate; final ḥ light
Clear and bright, with a sense of forward opening; avoid heaviness.
