Outer meaning

For Soma the seven rivers flow according to his forward command; to him the milch-cows run.

Inner meaning

The ‘seven rivers’ are the sevenfold currents of the being (or seven streams of inspiration and life-force) that begin to flow rightly when Soma’s purified delight issues its directive (praśiṣam). The ‘cows’ (dhenavaḥ) are rays/streams of nourishment—luminous knowings and sustaining energies—that hasten toward the bliss-center. Under Soma’s lead, the whole system becomes a coordinated offering: all currents converge to feed the inner joy and thereby strengthen illumination.

Universal truth

When the deepest delight becomes the guiding center, the many energies of life and mind reorganize themselves and flow harmoniously; knowledge and nourishment naturally ‘run’ toward that center.

Themes

seven rivers, nourishing powers, cosmic order in motion, Soma as attractor of energies

Other hymns
RV 9.66, RV 1.32 (Indra and the releasing of waters—parallel symbolism of freeing currents)

Significance

A classic Vedic psychological image: once the right power leads, the ‘waters’ and ‘cows’ (energies and illuminations) are released and directed—an inner liberation motif.

Devata
Soma Pavamāna
Epithets
pavamāna, leader by command (praśiṣa)
Related deities
Indra (releases waters by slaying Vṛtra), Sarasvatī (inspirational river), Agni (receives offerings; channels energies upward)

Cosmic role

Sets the cosmic and inner waters in motion; draws nourishing streams toward the gods (powers of consciousness).

Inner power

Centralizing bliss that coordinates prāṇa, thought, and intuition into one convergent flow.

Where it is used

Soma pressing and offering; imagery supports the gathering of Soma streams into vessels
