Sukta 9.64
ऊर्मिर्यस्ते पवित्र आ देवावीः पर्यक्षरत् । सीदन्नृतस्य योनिमा ॥
ū́rmir yás te pavítra ā́ devā-vī́ḥ paryákṣarat | sī́dann ṛtásya yónim ā́ ||
Fala Twoja, która opłynęła oczyszczacz, zdążając ku bogom, spoczywa w łonie Rty, ustanawiając oczyszczoną rozkosz na rodzimym miejscu Prawdy wewnątrz.
The wave (current) of Soma, having flowed around/through the filter (pavitra), moving toward the gods, comes to rest in the womb (source-seat) of Ṛta (cosmic order/truth).
The upsurging current of delight-consciousness (Soma) passes through the inner purifier (discernment, tapas, right selection), turns “godward” (toward higher powers of the being), and finally settles in the native seat of Truth (ṛtasya yoni)—the stable foundation in the soul where right order becomes spontaneous. The movement is from fluctuation (ūrmī, wave) to settled establishment (sīdann) in the truth-principle.
When the mind-life energies are purified by right discrimination and aspiration, the restless waves of experience become a steady, truth-seated consciousness; joy becomes grounded in truth rather than circumstance.
Purification and establishment, Truth-seat, Godward movement, Soma as rising wave
Ninth Maṇḍala is a liturgical-vision corpus of Soma purification, preserved across several ṛṣi lineages; the ‘seer’ is often the inspired voice of the Soma-process itself rather than a single named author for each verse.
The rishi-voice here is the inner witness of purification: it records a repeatable yogic sequence—rise of delight, filtering/clarifying, ascent to the gods, and final settlement in Ṛta’s womb (truth-seat).
Soma is the circulating life of delight that links earth and heaven; in purification he becomes the clarified offering that sustains the gods (powers of consciousness).
Ananda (divine delight) that, when purified, becomes truth-joy—capable of founding the being in Ṛta rather than in desire or inertia.
Soma pressing and purification (pavamāna-stotra context)

4 pādas × ~11 syllables (Triṣṭubh norm)
Forward-driving yet settling cadence—well-suited to describe a surge that resolves into stability.
Creates a felt sense of movement-through and then repose: the listener experiences ‘flow’ followed by ‘seating’ in a calm truth-poise.
Explicit filtration image: Soma wave circling the filter and settling; used in Soma rite at the moment of straining into vessels.
During Soma-yajña sequences when Soma is filtered and offered; chanted as part of Pavamāna praise while the juice is clarified.
Filtering/straining Soma; invoking its movement to the gods and its establishment in Ṛta.
Used as a meditation-verse during ‘inner purification’ practice: observe thoughts as waves, pass them through discernment, and rest awareness in truth.
ūrmi ‘wave’ possibly from √ur/√vṛ ‘to rise/swell’ (etymology uncertain); pavitra from √pū ‘purify’ + -tra instrument suffix; kṣar from PIE *ḱers- ‘flow/run’ proposed (cognate sets debated), but clear Vedic sense ‘stream’; yoni from √yu/√yā? traditional as ‘source/seat’ (etymology debated), functionally ‘matrix’.
Ṛta as womb/seat (ṛtasya yoni), Purification via discernment (pavitra), Stabilization of consciousness (sīdan)
Explicit: Soma settles in Ṛta’s yoni—delight becomes founded in cosmic rightness.
Truth as a ‘native seat’ (yoni) in consciousness, not merely correct statements.
Order is born from clarified delight; the cosmos is sustained by the right-flow of Soma into Ṛta.
Proto-Vedāntic / Integral (Aurobindonian) reading: ascent to higher planes and establishment in truth-consciousness.
Wave = rising movements of experience; filter = discriminative purification; settling in Ṛta’s womb = stable truth-consciousness in the psychic/deeper mind.
Let the ‘wave’ of attention flow through an inner filter of sincerity and discrimination; then rest awareness in the truth-seat (ṛta-yoṇi) behind thought.
Ājñā–Sahasrāra axis (clarity and truth-seat above ordinary mind)
Gentle nāḍī-śodhana or slow equal breathing; on exhale feel ‘settling’ (sīdan) into inner stillness.
From mobile mind to quiet, truth-held poise (sthiti).
Begin with witnessing the surge (ūrmī), apply the ‘pavitra’ question—‘Is this true, clear, godward?’—then allow what remains to settle as a calm certainty rather than a mental conclusion.
Mixed udātta/anudātta/svarita per Rigvedic accent; consult śākhā-specific pada text for exact svara marking.
Keep udātta syllables bright and slightly raised; allow svarita to ‘fall-glide’; avoid flattening the cadence at ‘sīdan’.
ūrmir: long ū; clear retroflex ṛ in ūrmíḥ, pavitre: pronounce ‘tri’ as a light cluster, not ‘tree’, pary-akṣarat: keep kṣ as a single conjunct (k+ṣ), ṛtasya: strong vocalic ṛ, not ‘ri’, yonim: short o, dental n
Clear, flowing tone that gently resolves into softness on the final pāda.
