Sukta 9.10
नाभा नाभिं न आ ददे चक्षुश्चित्सूर्ये सचा । कवेरपत्यमा दुहे ॥
nā́bhā nā́bhiṃ na ā́ dade cákṣuś cit sū́rye sácā | kavér apátyam ā́ duhe ||
Daje nam pępek, centralny węzeł istnienia; a nawet oko, w towarzystwie ze Słońcem. Doi dla nas potomstwo Widza: narodziny natchnionej wiedzy.
He gives us the navel; and the eye with the Sun; he milks out the offspring of the seer for us.
Soma, as the purifier, establishes the central knot/axis of our being (nābhi)—the stable inner center from which energies are ordered—and grants the inner eye that companions the Sun (sūrye sacā): vision aligned with truth-light. From that alignment he ‘milks’ (ā duhe) the kaveḥ apatyam—the seer’s offspring: inspired knowledge, true insight born from the inner rishi-consciousness.
Spiritual growth requires a stable center and a truthful vision; from these arises a natural ‘birth’ of inspired knowledge that nourishes life.
Illumination, Inner vision, Generation of mantra, Soma as nourisher
Defines a yogic sequence: center → vision → inspired birth. The hidden rishi in the mantra is the ‘kavi’ within, whose offspring is living knowledge.
Gives centrality and vision; nourishes the worlds with the essence of inspired knowledge.
Psychic centering and solarized perception; capacity to draw out the essential truth from the subconscious and life.
Soma purification and offering; verses praising Soma as giver of vision and inspired issue

4 × ~11 syllables (approx.)
Centering first half, then a nourishing ‘draw’ in the latter half.
Creates a felt ‘gathering’ at the center and a brightening behind the forehead/eyes.
Soma as the pressed-and-strained giver of ‘cakṣus’ (vision) and ‘apátya’ (productive inspiration) to the sacrificer; used in the Soma rite as an inner-empowerment formula
During Pavāmāna sequences emphasizing insight and nourishment from Soma
Recited as Soma flows; supports the intention of making the offering a source of knowledge and sight
Meditation for establishing inner center (nābhi) and cultivating sun-aligned discernment; helpful for clarity in decisions.
nā́bhi- ‘navel/hub’ relates to PIE *nébʰ- ‘navel’ (cf. Latin umbilīcus is different root; but Germanic ‘navel’ parallels). cakṣu- ‘eye’ from √cakṣ ‘to see’ (PIE *kʷekʷ-/*kek- ‘see’ proposed). sūrya- from √svar/√sur ‘shine’ (solar radiance). √sac ‘accompany’ has Indo-Iranian parallels (Avestan hačā ‘with’ is different but functional parallel). apátya ‘offspring’ from apa ‘away’? (traditional derivations vary); in RV it often means ‘issue/lineage/production’. √duh ‘milk’ (PIE *dʰewgʰ- ‘produce/milk’ cf. English ‘dough’ is different; but Germanic *deug- ‘be of use’ is separate—cognacy uncertain; still Indo-Iranian has clear √duh).
inner centre (nābhi as hub of consciousness), vision/gnosis (cakṣus with Sūrya), inspired progeny (apátya as born knowledge)
Nābhi as the hub of ṛta—right distribution of energies and functions.
The eye ‘with the Sun’ is perception in satya rather than in distortion.
Knowledge is ‘born’ from the seer; Soma milks the essence into manifestation.
Vedic psychology: kavi (seer) as inner faculty; Soma as ananda that yields knowledge.
Hub = inner axis; eye = inner vision; milking = extracting essence (soma) from experience into wisdom.
Rest attention at the navel-center as a ‘hub’; then lift awareness to the brow as a sun-lit eye; invite a ‘milked’ insight to arise without forcing.
maṇipūra (nābhi center) and ājñā (inner eye)
Inhale to navel (feel gathering), exhale to brow (feel clearing); then silent pause for insight.
Centered clarity; intuitive emergence.
Chant 3–9 times; then journal a single ‘offspring of the seer’—one clear insight or truth that feels sun-aligned and calm.
Rigvedic udātta/anudātta/svarita; exact svara not provided for each syllable.
Hold nābhā/nābhi with a steady center; brighten on sūrye; soften and ‘pour’ the phrase ā duhe.
Differentiate long ā in nābhā from short a elsewhere, cakṣuḥ: keep kṣ cluster clear, final ḥ lightly aspirated, kaveḥ: eḥ with visarga at pause; do not turn into ‘kave’
warm, nourishing, centered resonance
