Sukta 6.71
O Savitṛ, impel for us the desirable good today, tomorrow, day by day. Since you possess an abundant dwelling of delight, may we become its sharers by this movement of thought and will.
The seeker asks the divine Impeller to continually set in motion (sāvīḥ) the ‘vāmam’—the pleasant, right, and fulfilling good—so the inner life is progressively aligned each day. ‘Kṣaya’ is not merely a house but a stable inner station of felicity: a consciousness-home of abundance (bhūri). By the ‘going’ (ayā) of dhī—illumined thought-will—the aspirant becomes a participant (vāmabhājaḥ) in that divine delight rather than a transient enjoyer of outer pleasures.
Lasting well-being is not случай desire-fulfillment but a daily re-impulsion of consciousness toward the good; by disciplined, illumined intention we enter a stable inner abundance.
boon prayer, inner felicity, daily renewal, participation in plenitude
Bārhaspatya emphasis on dhī (illumined understanding) and right formation of works; prayer as a disciplined movement of thought-force.
The Bharadvāja vision links daily life to the yoga of continuity—‘dive-dive’ as steady sādhanā under Savitṛ’s guidance.
Regulator of rhythms of day and life; awakener of aspiration and beneficent movement in beings.
Sustaining impulsion that converts aspiration into stable joy (ānanda) and right habit of consciousness.
Morning/day-start prayers to Savitṛ; blessings for prosperity and right movement

4×12 syllables (approx.) with a repeated ‘vāmam’ anaphora shaping the cadence
Mantric insistence through repetition; expansive but orderly.
Builds a steady resolve and a calm optimism; repetition imprints the ‘true good’ as a daily orientation.
General Savitṛ-prayer for daily impulsion and wellbeing; suitable for morning recitations and rites invoking prasava (impulsion).
At sunrise or before daily duties; also suitable for beginning a journey or undertaking
Recitation as sankalpa: asking the divine to impel the good continuously
Use as a daily intention-setting mantra for ethical clarity, emotional balance, and sustained practice.
Key terms: (1) vāma- 'desirable, pleasant, auspicious' (semantic range: beloved, good, boon) → in inner sense: felicity of right harmony. (2) sāvīḥ opt. 2sg of √sū/√su 'impel, vivify' → Savitṛ as giver of continuous right impulsion. (3) kṣaya- 'dwelling, abiding place' from √kṣi 'to dwell' → stable inner seat of abundance, not mere property. (4) dhī- 'vision-thought' from √dhī 'to think, perceive' → inspired intelligence. (5) ayā (instr.) from aya- (movement) < √i 'go' → the forward progression of consciousness.
continuous becoming, dhī (inspired intelligence), kṣaya (stable inner abode), prasava (divine impulsion)
The ‘day by day’ impulsion implies alignment with cosmic rhythm rather than erratic desire.
Dhī as truth-seeing intelligence becomes the means of sharing the divine abundance.
The divine distributes delight through ordered time; progress is incremental manifestation of the good.
Yoga of aspiration and continuity; anticipates Upaniṣadic stress on inner state (dhaman/kṣaya) rather than external gain.
morning and daily recurrence
Repeated sunrise symbolizes renewed aspiration; the ‘abode’ is the settled inner joy-state accessed by illumined will.
‘Vāmam’ as the soul’s true good; cultivate daily re-alignment of intention under a higher impulsion.
anāhata (inner joy)
equal breathing (sama-vṛtti) 4-4 or 6-6 while repeating ‘vāmam’ mentally
quiet aspiration with warmth of gratitude
Begin with three slow breaths; chant once aloud, then repeat mentally, offering ‘today, tomorrow, day by day’ as a surrender of time; end by feeling a stable inner ‘dwelling’ of contented wideness.
Vedic accents as marked; maintain lift on udātta syllables in repeated ‘vāmam’ phrases and keep cadence consistent across repetitions.
Let the repeated ‘vāmam’ be even and unhurried; avoid rushing ‘dive-diveve’. Keep ‘sāvīḥ’ crisp with long ī.
vā́mam (do not reduce ā), dive-dive (separate lightly, not ‘divedive’ blur), kṣayasya (clear kṣ cluster), dhiyā (soft dh, long ā), vāmabhājaḥ (aspirate bh, long ā)
gentle, reassuring, steady resonance
