Sukta 1.91
त्वं सोम प्र चिकितो मनीषा त्वं रजिष्ठमनु नेषि पन्थाम् । तव प्रणीती पितरो न इन्दो देवेषु रत्नमभजन्त धीराः ॥
tváṃ sóma prá cikito manīṣā́ tváṃ rájiṣṭham ánu neṣi pánthām | táva práṇītī pitáro na indo devéṣu rátnam abhajanta dhī́rāḥ ||
Ty, o Somo, jesteś świadomy dzięki oświeconemu umysłowi; prowadzisz nas najkrólewską ścieżką. Przez twoje prowadzenie, o Indu, nasi Ojcowie, niezłomni widzący, zdobyli wśród bogów skarb boskiej rozkoszy.
Soma is conscious by inspired thought, leads on the best path; guided by him, the Fathers won a treasure among the gods.
Soma (Indu) is the divine delight-principle that becomes ‘pra-cikita’—awake and discerning—through manīṣā (illumined intelligence). He leads along the rajiṣṭha panthā—‘most royal/most straight’ path: the sure way of ascent where delight guides rather than desire. The Pitaraḥ are the former realizers—ancestral powers or earlier perfected states within us—who by Soma’s guidance attained the ‘ratna’ among the gods: stable ananda and luminous fulfillment in the higher consciousness. The mantra teaches that delight is not an end-of-journey reward only; it is a guide and leader on the path when purified and made conscious.
When joy becomes conscious and intelligent (not impulsive), it turns into guidance; the path becomes straighter, and the ‘treasure’ of higher life is recovered through inner lineage and perseverance.
Soma-ritual, Inner guidance, Ancestral attainment, Divine treasure
The seer speaks from a lineage-consciousness: realization is cumulative (‘Fathers’). Soma is presented as both substance (delight) and guide (inner leader), central to the Aurobindonian yoga of ananda as a path-force.
To intoxicate the gods (powers) with immortality, to purify and uplift; to lead seekers on the kingly path to divine treasure.
Ananda that becomes intelligent and directive—turning aspiration into a joyful, steady ascent.
Soma-related recitation; thematically aligned with Soma pressing/offering (Somayāga) though also used devotionally

4×11 (approx.)
Forward-leading rhythm with directive verbs (neṣi, abhajanta) giving a sense of guidance and progress.
Invokes uplifted aspiration; cools agitation while energizing the will with gladness.
Soma-hymn context; applicable in Soma pressing/offerings (pavamāna and soma rites broadly), emphasizing Soma as guide and giver of divine treasure.
During Soma rites; also suitable for personal invocation when seeking guidance and joyful steadiness
Recited with offering of Soma/oblations in Śrauta context; in personal practice, offered as inner ‘libation’ of delight to the gods within
Chant when the path feels unclear: to reframe delight as a compass, not a distraction.
cikito: perfect from √cit ‘to perceive/know’ → Soma as conscious principle. manīṣā: ‘inspired thought’ (from √man ‘to think’ with intensification), a higher reflective faculty. √nī ‘lead’ (neṣi) emphasizes Soma as guide in inner journey. ratná: ‘treasure’ as essence of spiritual riches, not material. √bhaj ‘apportion/partake’ (abhajanta) suggests attainment by participation. pitṛ́- ‘fathers’ are ancestral discoverers of the path, not merely biological ancestors.
Ancestral seers (Pitaraḥ) as pathfinders, Guidance (praṇīti) in inner ascent, Ratna as spiritual treasure, Manīṣā as higher mind
The ‘most straight/royal path’ implies the ṛta-way—movement aligned with truth and right progression.
Manīṣā makes Soma ‘conscious’: delight is joined to truth-discrimination.
Ascent through guidance: the gods-world is accessed by a substance of consciousness (Soma) that both purifies and leads.
Integral Vedanta-in-the-Veda (Aurobindo): ananda as a fundamental plane and operative power in evolution.
Soma-juice = distilled delight; pressing/filtering = purification of emotions; path = inner discipline and ascent; Fathers = inherited inner capacities and archetypal realizers.
Invoke Soma as intelligent delight guiding the day’s choices; feel ‘the kingly path’ as the most natural, straight movement of the soul.
Sahasrāra/upper head (nectar) with support in Ājñā (discernment/manīṣā)
Inhale imagining cool lunar nectar descending; exhale chanting softly, offering delight upward to the inner gods
Joyful clarity; guided aspiration.
Before meditation, chant 3–9 times; then sit and ask inwardly: ‘What is the rajiṣṭha panthā today?’ Wait for the quiet, sweet directive that arises without strain.
Observe Saṃhitā accents; key lifts often align with soma/indu/manīṣā/neṣi/ratnam. Keep pitch steps clean.
Let imperative/leadership verbs (neṣi, praṇītī) carry a slightly firmer articulation without increasing speed.
tvaṃ: nasal ‘ṃ’ clear, cikita: ‘ci-ki-ta’ crisp dental ‘t’, manīṣā: long ī and ā; retroflex ṣ, rajiṣṭham: ‘ṣṭh’ cluster—retroflex ṣ + aspirated th, panthām: ‘nth’ cluster; long ā, indu: short i, dental d; do not say ‘hindu’
Cool, steady, slightly luminous (as if ‘moonlit’).
