Sukta 3

Rishi: Atharvanic (protective litany; traditional attribution varies)

Devata: Multiple: Indra, Pūṣan, Aditi, Maruts, Apām Napāt, Seven Rivers, Viṣṇu, Dyauḥ

Chandas: Mixed/Anuṣṭubh-like litany (prose-rubric + metrical cola)

AV 6.3 to zwarta litania „samostrzeżenia” (ātmagopanam), która buduje tarczę wszechkierunkową, przywołując koalicję wedyjskich opiekunów, kosmicznych, atmosferycznych, wodnych i rytualnych. Jej moc leży w kumulacyjnym przyzywaniu: każde bóstwo/siła jest proszona o „ochronę” (pātu/pāntu), nakładając warstwy bezpieczeństwa przeciwko aṃhas (uciążliwości, grzechowi, nieszczęściu) oraz widzialnym/niewidzialnym szkodom.
