FAQs

It preserves a Purāṇic narrative setting that links disciplined daily observance (triṣavaṇa, dawn-bathing) with pilgrimage geography, illustrating how tīrtha traditions were framed through exemplary individuals and named sacred landscapes.

Bhāgīrathī is a classical name for the Gaṅgā (Ganges). “Dharma-araṇya” is presented as a sacred forest locale associated with the river; its precise modern identification varies by regional tradition and requires corroboration with other textual and inscriptional sources.

The verse foregrounds disciplined routine and restraint—regular bathing and observance at the three daily ritual times—as a model of ethical self-regulation (saṃyama) expressed through orderly conduct and respectful engagement with culturally significant natural sites (the river and forest).
