Dalam upacara śrāddha, tiga perkara disebut sebagai penyuci: cucu lelaki daripada anak perempuan (dauhitra), kain bulu yang dinamakan kutapa, dan biji bijan (tilāḥ). Demikian juga, sedekah perak serta amalan yang bermula dengan hadir untuk menziarahi/menatap dengan hormat (saṃdarśana-ādikam) dinyatakan berfaedah dan berkat.
