Cosmogony and the Ninefold Creation: Rudra’s Origin and the Prelude to the Sāvitrī-Veda Narrative
priyavrata uvāca | bhagavan kiñcid āścaryam etasmin kṛtasaṃjñite yuge dṛṣṭaṃ śrutaṃ vāpi tan me kathaya nārada || 2.57 ||
Priyavrata
It exemplifies a common Purāṇic narrative technique: a respectful inquiry that prompts an authoritative sage (here, Nārada) to recount exemplary events, anchoring teachings within the yuga-based chronology.
No specific geographic location is named in this verse; the reference is temporal (Kṛta Yuga) rather than spatial.
The verse models epistemic humility and disciplined inquiry—seeking reliable narration (“seen or heard”) from a recognized transmitter of tradition, rather than asserting conclusions without testimony.
