Sukta 9.97
सोमं गावो धेनवो वावशानाः सोमं विप्रा मतिभिः पृच्छमानाः । सोमः सुतः पूयते अज्यमानः सोमे अर्कास्त्रिष्टुभः सं नवन्ते ॥
sómaṃ gā́vo dhenávo vāvaśānā́ḥ sómaṃ víprā matíbhiḥ pṛcchámānāḥ | sómaḥ sutáḥ pū́yate ájyamānaḥ sóme arkā́s triṣṭúbhaḥ sám navante ||
सोमासाठी गावः (किरण-गायी) आणि धेनवः (पोषक दुग्ध-शक्ती) आर्त हाक देतात; विप्र (प्रकाशित ऋषी) आपल्या मतिंनी सोमाचा शोध घेतात. सोम, सुत (पिळून काढलेला), अभ्यंजन होत असताना शुद्ध होतो; सोमात त्रिष्टुभ्-अर्क (त्रिष्टुभ् छंदातील स्तोत्रे) एकत्र जुळून नवजात होतात.
