एष सुवानः परि सोमः पवित्रे सर्गो न सृष्टो अदधावदर्वा । तिग्मे शिशानो महिषो न शृङ्गे गा गव्यन्नभि शूरो न सत्वा ॥
eṣá suvānáḥ pári sómaḥ pavítre sárgo ná sṛṣṭó adadhāvad árvā | tigmé śiśāno mahíṣo ná śṛ́ṅge gā́ gavyánn abhí śū́ro ná sátvā ||
हा सोम, पिळून काढलेला, पवित्र (गाळणी) भोवती सुटलेल्या लाटेसारखा धावून पुढे झेपावतो. तीक्ष्ण कडांवर स्वतःला धार लावत—जसा महिष आपल्या शिंगांवर—तो गव्य (गायी/प्रकाश-किरणे) शोधतो; शूरासारखा, सत्त्ववान् बलवान् होऊन पुढे ढकलत जातो.
