Sukta 9.83
हविर्हविष्मो महि सद्म दैव्यं नभो वसानः परि यास्यध्वरम् । राजा पवित्ररथो वाजमारुहः सहस्रभृष्टिर्जयसि श्रवो बृहत् ॥
havír haviṣmo máhi sádma daívyam nábho vásānaḥ pári yāsy adhvarám | rājā́ pavítra-ratho vā́jam ā́ruhaḥ sahásra-bhṛṣṭir jayasi śrávo bṛhát ||
Celebratory close: Soma as king rides the pavitra (filter) and wins śravas; used to affirm the rite’s success and the sacrificer’s spiritual victory.
purification as vehicle of ascent, victory-force (vāja) as spiritual attainment, bṛhat (vast) as expansion of consciousness
Soma ‘moves around’ the adhvara—sustaining the right movement of transformation.
The ‘mahi sadma daivyam’ is the true dwelling; victory is stable only when founded in Satya.
Ascent to the divine home through purification and victorious force.
Integral/psychological Vedism: offering → purification → ascent → established inner authority (śravas).
Sky = wideness of mind; filter = discrimination; chariot = disciplined movement; rays = penetrating illumination.
Offer attention and breath into a ‘filtering’ awareness; feel purified delight becoming a sovereign force that carries you inward/upward.
Viśuddha (purification/clarity) and Ājñā (directed victory of mind)
Ujjāyī (gentle) or counted breathing (e.g., 4-4-6) while repeating key phrases ‘pavitraratho… jayasi’.
Dynamic stillness: wide clarity with victorious drive.
Begin with an inner offering (havis). Maintain a ‘pavitra’ attitude—only what is true passes. Then ‘mount vāja’: act from purified impetus, not from restlessness; let victory be measured by wideness and steadiness (śravo bṛhat).
Three-tone Vedic contour as per śākhā; exact udatta/svarita placement needs a svara-annotated text for RV 9.83.5.
Keep phrase breaks after each pāda; emphasize ‘rājā’, ‘pavitraratho’, ‘jayasi’ with clear udātta peaks where marked.
हविर्हविष्मो: split as havir-haviṣmo; keep visarga before h lightly aspirated., नभो वसानः: ‘nabho’ with clear o; ‘vasānaḥ’ long ā., पवित्ररथः: ‘pavitra’ with dental त; ‘rathaḥ’ aspirated थ., सहस्रभृष्टिः: ‘sahasra’ with light h; ‘bhṛṣṭiḥ’ with vocalic ṛ (bhṛ).
Bright, forward, slightly triumphant but controlled (purified vigor).
