Sukta 4.17
त्राता नो बोधि ददृशान आपिरभिख्याता मर्डिता सोम्यानाम् । सखा पिता पितृतमः पितॄणां कर्तेमु लोकमुशते वयोधाः ॥
trātā́ no bodhi dádṛśāna ā́pir abhikhyātā́ marḍitā́ somyā́nām | sákhā pitā́ pitṛ́tamaḥ pitṝṇā́ṃ kartém u lokám uśaté vayodhā́ḥ ||
हे सर्वद्रष्टा! आमचा त्राता हो; आमचा निकटचा आपिर् (आप्त), सुप्रसिद्ध, सोम्य जनांचा मर्डिता (उपचारक/उद्धारक) हो. सखा आणि पिता—पितरांमध्ये अति-पितृतम—लोकाचा कर्ता; जो आकांक्षा करतो त्याच्यासाठी वयः (जीवन-बल) स्थापन कर।
