Vāta (Wind as life-force and healer)
हे संक्षिप्त तीन ऋचांचे सूक्त वाता (प्राणरूप वारा) याला उपकारी वैद्य म्हणून आवाहन करते—तो हृदयात शांती व आनंद आणतो आणि प्राणश्वासाला परिपूर्ण जीवनाकडे पुढे नेतो, असे स्तुतीत सांगते. वाताला पिता, भाऊ आणि मित्र असे संबोधून नाते अधिक दृढ केले जाते. शेवटी, वाताच्या स्वतःच्या धामात साठवलेला मानला जाणारा “अमृताचा खजिना” यातील एक वाटा—म्हणजे जीवन टिकवणारी, मृत्युरहित प्राणशक्ती—देण्याची विनंती केली जाते.

वात आ वातु भेषजं शम्भु मयोभु नो हृदे । प्र ण आयूंषि तारिषत् ॥
वात आमच्याकडे भेषज-रूपाने वाहो—शम्भु, मयोभु होऊन आमच्या हृदयात शांती व आनंद भरू दे; आणि आमची आयुष्ये तो पार नेवो—क्षयाच्या पलीकडे—अधिक पूर्ण कालावधीपर्यंत.

उत वात पितासि न उत भ्रातोत नः सखा । स नो जीवातवे कृधि ॥
आणि हे वात! तू आमचा पिता आहेस; आमचा भाऊ आहेस; आमचा सखा आहेस. म्हणून आम्हांला जगण्यासाठी समर्थ कर—आमची सत्ता सुस्थित कर, जेणेकरून आम्ही टिकू व वाढू.

यददो वात ते गृहेऽमृतस्य निधिर्हितः । ततो नो देहि जीवसे ॥
हे वात, तुझ्या गृही अमृताचा निधी ठेवलेला असेल, तर त्या साठ्यातून आम्हांला जगण्यासाठी दे—अमृतांश आमच्या प्राणात प्रवेश करो आणि आमची यात्रा धारण करो.
