Sukta 1.83
आपो न देवीरुप यन्ति होत्रियमवः पश्यन्ति विततं यथा रजः । प्राचैर्देवासः प्र णयन्ति देवयुं ब्रह्मप्रियं जोषयन्ते वरा इव ॥
ā́po ná devī́r úpa yanti hotríyam aváḥ paśyanti ví-tataṃ yáthā rájaḥ | prācáir devā́saḥ prá nayanti deva-yúṃ bráhma-priyaṃ joṣayante varā́ iva ||
देवींसारख्या आपः (जलधारा) होत्रिय (यज्ञपुरोहित) याच्या जवळ येतात; विस्तीर्ण क्षेत्र जसे मोकळे आकाश-प्रदेश दिसते तसे त्या पाहतात. अग्रगामी शक्तींनी देवगण देवयु (देवसेवी), ब्रह्मप्रिय जनाला पुढे नेतात आणि वर जसे निवडलेल्या वधूला जपतात तसे त्याला आदराने तृप्त करतात.
