यो अपाचीने तमसि मदन्तीः प्राचीश्चकार नृतमः शचीभिः । तमीशानं वस्वो अग्निं गृणीषेऽनानतं दमयन्तं पृतन्यून् ॥

yó apācī́ne támasi mádantīḥ prācī́ś cakā́ra nṛ́tamaḥ śácībhiḥ | tám īśā́naṁ vásvo agníṁ gṛṇīṣé'nā́nataṁ damáyantaṁ pṛtanyū́n ||

ಯೋ ತನ್ನ ಶಚೀಭಿಃ (ಶಕ್ತಿಗಳ) ಮೂಲಕ ಅಪಾಚೀನೇ ತಮಸಿ (ಪಶ್ಚಿಮಮುಖ ಅಂಧಕಾರ)ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮದಂತೀಃ (ಮತ್ತಾಗಿರುವವರನ್ನು) ಪ್ರಾಚೀಃ (ಪೂರ್ವಮುಖ)ವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೋ—ಕರ್ಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೃತಮಃ (ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪುರುಷಾರ್ಥಿ) ಅವನೇ. ಆ ಈಶಾನಂ ವಸ್ವಃ—ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಅಧಿಪತಿ ಅಗ್ನಿಯನ್ನು ನಾನು ಗೃಣೀಷೇ (ಸ್ತುತಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ): ಅನಾನತಂ (ಅಜಿತ), ಮತ್ತು ಪೃತನ್ಯೂನ್ (ಯೋಧರನ್ನು/ಸಂಘರ್ಷಕರರನ್ನು) ದಮಯಂತಂ (ವಶಪಡಿಸುವವನು).
