ಈ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಇಂದ್ರಸ್ತೋತ್ರವು ಯಜ್ಞಸಮುದಾಯವನ್ನು ವೀರ ‘ನರ್’—ಇಂದ್ರನಿಗೆ ಸೋಮವನ್ನೂ ಎಲ್ಲ ‘ಪೂರ್ಣತೆಗಳನ್ನೂ’ ತಂದು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಲು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ; ಅವನು ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಸಾಗುವ, ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿಸುವ, ಹಿಂದೆ ಬೀಳದ ಶಕ್ತಿ. ಸರಿಯಾದ ಅರ್ಪಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ತುತಿ ಇಂದ್ರನ ಜಾಗೃತ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಹಾಗೂ ಧೈರ್ಯಮಯ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿತವೆಂದು ಇದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ; ಮತ್ತು ಯಜಮಾನನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರುವ ಶತ್ರುತ್ವದ ಮಾತು, ಶಾಪಗಳು, ಹಾಗೂ ದಾಳಿಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಅವನ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯನ್ನು ಬೇಡುತ್ತದೆ.

प्रत्यस्मै पिपीषते विश्वानि विदुषे भर । अरंगमाय जग्मयेऽपश्चाद्दघ्वने नरे ॥
ಅವನ ಎದುರಿಗೆ, ಅವನ ವೃದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿ, ತಿಳಿದವನಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ತಂದು ಅರ್ಪಿಸು. ಗುರಿಯತ್ತ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಸಾಗುವ, ಬಂದಿರುವ, ಹಿಂದೆ ಉಳಿಯದ ಆ ನರನಿಗೆ ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಂದುಕೊಡು.
Mantra 2
एमेनं प्रत्येतन सोमेभिः सोमपातमम् । अमत्रेभिॠजीषिणमिन्द्रं सुतेभिरिन्दुभिः ॥
ಹೀಗೆ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ; ಸೋಮಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅವನತ್ತ ಸಮೀಪಿಸಿರಿ—ಸೋಮಪಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಮಪಾನಕನಾದ ಇಂದ್ರನ ಬಳಿಗೆ. ಅಳತೆಯಿಲ್ಲದಂತೆ ಪೀಡಿತ ಬಿಂದುಗಳಿಂದ, ಋಜುವಾಗಿ ಸಾಗಿಸುವ ಬಲದೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಸುತ ಇಂದುಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಇಂದ್ರನನ್ನು ಸಮೀಪಿಸಿರಿ.

यदी सुतेभिरिन्दुभिः सोमेभिः प्रतिभूषथ । वेदा विश्वस्य मेधिरो धृषत्तंतमिदेषते ॥
ನೀವು ಸುತ ಪ್ರಕಾಶಮಾನ ಇಂದುಗಳಿಂದ, ಸೋಮಗಳಿಂದ, ಅಲಂಕರಿತರಾಗಿ ಎದುರು ನಿಲ್ಲುವಾಗ, ಆಗ ಆ ಮೇಧಾವಿ ಸರ್ವವನ್ನೂ ಅರಿಯುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಧೃಷ್ಟ ಆತ್ಮವು ‘ತತ್’ ಅನ್ನು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಬಯಸುತ್ತದೆ.

अस्माअस्मा इदन्धसोऽध्वर्यो प्र भरा सुतम् । कुवित्समस्य जेन्यस्य शर्धतोऽभिशस्तेरवस्परत् ॥
ಅವನಿಗೆ, ಅವನಿಗೇ, ಹೇ ಅಧ್ವರ್ಯು, ಸುತ ಸೋಮರಸವನ್ನು ಮುಂದಿಟ್ಟು ತರು. ಬಹುಶಃ ಆ ಜಯಶೀಲನು ತನ್ನ ಯುದ್ಧಮಯ ಗಣದೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಶಾಪದ ಆಕ್ರಮಣವನ್ನೂ ಶತ್ರುವಚನದ ಹೊಡೆತವನ್ನೂ ದೂರ ತಳ್ಳುವನು.
