Soma Pavamāna
આ સોમ પાવમાન સૂક્ત ઝડપી, મધુધારાઓ વહાવતો સોમ શુદ્ધ થઈને વહેતો મૂકાય ત્યારે તેની સ્તુતિ કરે છે; તે પ્રેરિત કાવ્ય (કાવ્ય)ને જાગૃત કરે છે અને યજમાનમાં બળ સ્થાપે છે. સોમને ઇન્દ્રની શક્તિનો રસ (ઇન્દ્રિય રસ) વહન કરનાર તરીકે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે: ઇન્દ્ર જ્યારે આ ઉલ્લાસરસો પીવે છે, ત્યારે તે અવરોધ ઊભા કરનાર વૃત્ર-શક્તિઓને વારંવાર પરાજિત કરે છે. તેમજ સોમ ઉપાસકને શત્રુત્વપૂર્ણ વાણી અને આક્રમણથી રક્ષે છે.

सोमा असृग्रमाशवो मधोर्मदस्य धारया । अभि विश्वानि काव्या ॥
સોમાઓ, અતિશય વેગવાળા, મધુર મદની ધારામાં વહેતા નીકળ્યા છે; તેઓ સર્વ કાવ્યકર્મો પર વ્યાપે છે, અંતરમાં છુપાયેલા કવિસત્યને જાગૃત કરે છે.

अनु प्रत्नास आयवः पदं नवीयो अक्रमुः । रुचे जनन्त सूर्यम् ॥
પ્રાચીનોને અનુસરી, જીવંત સાધકો નવા પદ પર પગ મૂક્યા; રુચિ—પ્રકાશમય તેજ—માંથી તેઓ સૂર્યને જનમાવે છે: અંતરમાં જાગૃત થયેલું સત્ય-પ્રકાશ.

अभि सोमास आयवः पवन्ते मद्यं मदम् । अभि कोशं मधुश्चुतम् ॥
અભિલાષી સોમરસો પોતાને પવિત્ર કરતાં વહે છે—પેય એવા મધ્ય, આનંદમય મદ તરફ; અને મધુ ટપકાવતાં કોશ (પાત્ર) તરફ પણ વહે છે.

सोमो अर्षति धर्णसिर्दधान इन्द्रियं रसम् । सुवीरो अभिशस्तिपाः ॥
સોમ વહે છે—આધારરૂપ ધર્ણસિ, ઇન્દ્રિય રસ ધારણ કરતો; સુવીર, અને અભિશસ્તિ-પા—શત્રુવાણી તથા આઘાતથી રક્ષક.

इन्द्राय सोम पवसे देवेभ्यः सधमाद्यः । इन्दो वाजं सिषाससि ॥
હે સોમ, તું ઇન્દ્ર માટે પવિત્ર થઈ વહે છે; દેવો માટે સધમાદ્ય—સામૂહિક સત્રનો આનંદ. હે ઇન્દુ, તું વાજને પ્રેરવા ઇચ્છે છે—બળની પૂર્ણતા અને વિજયી વૃદ્ધિ—અમારા અંદર.

अस्य पीत्वा मदानामिन्द्रो वृत्राण्यप्रति । जघान जघनच्च नु ॥
આ ઉન્માદ-આનંદ (મદ)નું પાન કરીને ઇન્દ્રે અપ્રતિરોધ્ય રીતે વિરોધ કરનારા વૃત્રોને સંહાર્યા; તેણે તેમને સંહાર્યા છે, અને હવે પણ સતત સંહારતો રહે છે.
