Sukta 8.82
तीव्राः सोमास आ गहि सुतासो मादयिष्णवः । पिबा दधृग्यथोचिषे ॥
tīvrā́ḥ sómāsa ā́ gahi sutā́so mādayiṣṇávaḥ | píba dadhṛ́g yáthociṣé ||
તીવ્ર સોમો અહીં છે—સુત, પિષિત, અને દિવ્ય મદ માટે ઉત્સુક; આવ. આધારધારક તરીકે પી, જેથી તારી તેજસ્વી તૃપ્તિ થાય.
Soma offering invitation: urging Indra to drink the pressed Soma to kindle victorious force.
ananda (ecstatic delight as power), strengthening of the supporter (dhṛ) principle
Dadhṛk implies upholding ṛta—stable cosmic order in the being.
Luminous satisfaction (ociṣ) suggests truth-light enjoying itself as joy.
Distillation of delight into a sustaining power that supports manifestation.
Vedāntic-Anandamaya resonance (Taittirīya) plus Aurobindonian soma-as-ananda.
Pressing = concentration of consciousness; drinking = assimilation; sharpness = power to pierce tamas.
Offer purified joy upward; let illumined mind drink it and become stable and bright.
Anāhata (sweetness) rising to Ājñā (luminous clarity)
Slow inhale imagining ‘pressing’ nectar in the heart; chant on exhale; brief stillness to ‘taste’ soma as quiet joy
Joyful clarity; steady uplift
Cultivate a clean happiness (not excitement). Chant, then sit with the sense of a cool luminous nectar in the chest and brow; allow thoughts to become fewer and more bright.
Maintain clear udātta on key nouns (somāsaḥ, sutāsaḥ); let the invitation ‘ā gahi’ rise naturally; follow śākhā accenting when available.
Pause lightly after ‘ā gahi’; articulate compounds without rushing.
tīvrāḥ: long ī; do not soften v, somāsaḥ: long ā; final ḥ audible but light, mādayiṣṇavaḥ: retroflex ṣṇ cluster—keep crisp, dadhṛk: final k unaspirated, clear
Warm, bright, devotional
