આ સંક્ષિપ્ત ગાયત્રી સૂક્તમાં સર્વજ્ઞ અગ્નિ જાતવેદસને પ્રેરિત વાણી અને ‘દ્યુમ્નૈઃ’—પ્રકાશમય શક્તિઓ દ્વારા પ્રબળ રીતે પ્રજ્વલિત કરી આગળ ધપાવવા માટે આહ્વાન કરવામાં આવે છે. ગોતમ વંશના ઋષિઓ (અને નામે રહૂગણો) તેમને વિશાળદ્રષ્ટા અને વાજ—જીવશક્તિ તથા સમૃદ્ધિ—જીતવામાં સર્વોત્કૃષ્ટ વિજયી તરીકે સ્તુતિપૂર્વક બોલાવે છે, જેથી તેમનો પ્રકાશ અને ઊર્જા ઉપાસકોની અંદર કાર્ય કરે.

अभि त्वा गोतमा गिरा जातवेदो विचर्षणे । द्युम्नैरभि प्र णोनुमः ॥
હે જાતવેદસ, વિશાળદર્શી શક્તિ! ગૌતમો વાણી દ્વારા તારી તરફ અભિમુખ થાય છે; દ્યુમ્નમય બળોથી અમે તને અમારા અંદર આગળ ધકેલીએ છીએ.

तमु त्वा गोतमो गिरा रायस्कामो दुवस्यति । द्युम्नैरभि प्र णोनुमः ॥
હે અગ્નિ, તને ગૌતમો પ્રેરિત વાણીથી સેવન કરે છે, રાયિ—અસ્તિત્વની પૂર્ણતા—ની ઇચ્છા રાખીને; દ્યુમ્નમય શક્તિઓથી અમે તને અમારા અંદર આગળ વધારીએ છીએ.

तमु त्वा वाजसातममङ्गिरस्वद्धवामहे । द्युम्नैरभि प्र णोनुमः ॥
હે અંગિરસસદૃશ અગ્નિ, વાજસાતમ—વાજ (બળ-સમૃદ્ધિ) જીતવામાં સર્વોત્કૃષ્ટ—એ તને જ અમે આહ્વાન કરીએ છીએ; દ્યુમ્નો (પ્રકાશમય શક્તિઓ) વડે અમે તને અમારા અંદર આગળ ધપાવીએ છીએ.

तमु त्वा वृत्रहन्तमं यो दस्यूँरवधूनुषे । द्युम्नैरभि प्र णोनुमः ॥
હે વૃત્રહંતમ—વૃત્રનો સર્વોત્કૃષ્ટ સંહારક—જે દસ્યુઓ (અવરોધક શક્તિઓ)ને ઝાટકી દૂર કરે છે, એ તને જ અમે આહ્વાન કરીએ છીએ; દ્યુમ્નો (પ્રકાશમય શક્તિઓ) વડે અમે તને અમારા અંદર આગળ ધપાવીએ છીએ.

अवोचाम रहूगणा अग्नये मधुमद्वचः । द्युम्नैरभि प्र णोनुमः ॥
અમે રહૂગણાઓએ અગ્નિને મધુમદ વચન—મધુર અને સત્યસભર વાણી—ઉચ્ચારી છે; દ્યુમ્નો (પ્રકાશમય શક્તિઓ) વડે અમે તેને અમારા અંદર આગળ ધપાવીએ છીએ.
