AV 7.49 માં દેવપત્નીઓ—મુખ્ય દેવોના સહચરીઓ—ને સમૂહ રક્ષક શક્તિ તરીકે આહ્વાન કરીને, આરંભમાં, સ્પર્ધામાં અને ઇનામ-વિજયમાં “અમને આગળ વધતાં રક્ષો” એવી પ્રાર્થના કરે છે. નામવિહોણી તેમજ વિશેષ નામિત દિવ્ય સ્ત્રીઓ (ઇન્દ્રાણી, અગ્નેયી, વરુણાની, અશ્વિની) ને બોલાવી, આશ્રયરૂપ શાંતિ (શર્મ) અને શુભ ઋત-ક્રમની સક્રિયતા માગે છે; તેમાં સ્ત્રીઓ માટે યોગ્ય સમય/ઋતુ (ઋતુ)નું યોગ્ય સ્થાપન પણ સામેલ છે. આ રક્ષણાત્મક આવરણ પૃથ્વી અને જળોને આવરી લેતા બ્રહ્માંડિય પરિઘમાં વિસ્તરે છે.

देवपत्न्यः। दे॒वानां॒ पत्नी॑रुश॒तीर॑वन्तु नः॒ प्राव॑न्तु नस्तु॒जये॒ वाज॑सातये । याः पार्थि॑वासो॒ या अ॒पामपि॑ व्र॒ते ता नो॑ देवीः सु॒हवाः॒ शर्म॑ यच्छन्तु
દેવપત્નીઓ—દેવોની ઇચ્છુક પત્નીઓ અમને અનુકૂળ રહે; હા, તેઓ અમને આગળ રક્ષે—આક્રમણમાં અને વિજયના પુરસ્કાર (વાજ) મેળવવામાં. જે પૃથ્વી સાથે સંબંધિત છે અને જે જળોના વ્રત/વિધાનમાં સ્થિત છે, એવી સહેલાઈથી આહ્વાન કરી શકાય તેવી દેવીઓ અમને આશ્રયરૂપ શાંતિ (શર્મ) અર્પે.

उ॒त ग्ना व्य॑न्तु दे॒वप॑त्नीरिन्द्रा॒ण्य॑१ग्नाय्य॒श्विनी॒ राट्। आ रोद॑सी वरुणा॒नी शृ॑णोतु॒ व्यन्तु॑ दे॒वीर्य ऋ॒तुर्जनी॑नाम्
અને દેવપત્નીઓ—દિવ્ય સ્ત્રીઓ—ચેતન થઈ કાર્યમાં પ્રવૃત્ત થાય: ઇન્દ્રાણી, અગ્નાયી અને રાજસી અશ્વિની. વરુણાની બે લોક (રોદસી) સુધી સાંભળે; દેવીઓ ક્રિયામાં પ્રવૃત્ત રહે—જે સ્ત્રીઓ માટે ઋતુ, યોગ્ય સમય, છે.
