Sukta 34
viṣṭāríṇam odanáṃ yé pácanti náinān ávartiḥ sacate kadā́ caná | ā́ste yamá úpa yāti devā́n sáṃ gandharváir mádate somyébhiḥ
They who cook the Vistārin porridge—never doth No-return cleave unto them at any time. Yama abideth; he draweth nigh unto the Gods, and with the Gandharvas he taketh delight in soma-like joys.
Rishi: Atharvanic seer (traditionally assigned within AVŚ 4.34’s āyuṣya complex; varies by anukramaṇī tradition)
Devata: Āyuṣ (Life) / Yama (as pacified death-power) with Gandharvas as attendants
Chandas: Triṣṭubh-like cadence (edition-dependent; AV meters here are often mixed)
Primary: shanta
Secondary: adbhuta
