Sukta 7

वि ते॒ मदं॑ मदावति श॒रमि॑व पातयामसि । प्र त्वा॑ च॒रुमि॑व॒ येष॑न्तं॒ वच॑सा स्थापयामसि

Sanskrit recitationAtharva Veda 4.7.4

ví te mádaṃ madāvati śarám iva pātayāmasi | prá tvā carúm iva yéṣantaṃ vácasā sthāpayāmasi

Thy frenzy, O maddening one, we smite down as an arrow: thee, though seething, we set firm by speech, as one setteth a cooked oblation in its place.

હે મદાવતી (ઉન્માદ ઉત્પન્ન કરનારી), તારો મદ/ઉન્માદ અમે બાણની જેમ નીચે પાડી દઈએ છીએ. હે ઉકળતી (ક્ષુબ્ધ) તને, વાણીના બળથી અમે સ્થિર સ્થાપિત કરીએ છીએ—જેમ કોઈ ચરુ (પાકેલી હવિ)ને તેના સ્થાનમાં ગોઠવે છે તેમ.
