AV 20.7 ઋગ્વેદમાંથી ઉતારાયેલું ટૂંકું સ્તોત્ર છે. સૂર્યના વિજયી ઉદયની શક્તિથી અઘ (હાનિ, અપશકુન, દુષ્પ્રભાવ)ને દૂર હંકારીને શુભ વ્યવસ્થા પુનઃસ્થાપિત કરે છે. સૂર્યની અપોત્રોપાયક (અપશકુન-નિવારક) ગતિ મુખ્ય હોવા છતાં, રક્ષણ, બળ, અને ગૃહસમૃદ્ધિ માટે ઇન્દ્રની ઉપકારી મિત્રતા તથા સોમપોષિત શક્તિનો પણ આશ્રય લેવાયો છે. પ્રયોગમાં આ સંક્ષિપ્ત શાંતિ-પાઠ તરીકે કાર્ય કરે છે: અંધકાર પર પ્રકાશ, અવરોધ પર યોગ્ય માર્ગ.

उद् घेद॒भि श्रु॒ताम॑घं वृष॒भं नर्या॑पसम्। अस्ता॑रमेषि सूर्य
હા, તું પ્રસિદ્ધ દુષ્ટતા સામે ઊભો થઈ આગળ વધે છે—પુરુષાર્થના કાર્યો કરનાર વૃષભ, વિજયી; હે સૂર્ય! તું આગળ ગતિ કરે છે.

नव॒ यो न॑व॒तिं पुरो॑ बि॒भेद॑ बा॒ह्वोजसा । अहिं॑ च वृत्र॒हाव॑धीत्
જે પોતાના બાહુજન્ય પરાક્રમથી નવ અને નવ્વાણું કિલ્લાઓને ભેદી નાખે છે, અને સર્પને પણ—વૃત્રહા (વૃત્ર-વધ કરનાર) એ ઇન્દ્રે પાડી દીધો છે.

सन॒ इन्द्रः॑ शि॒वः सखाश्वा॑व॒द् गोम॒द् यव॑मत्। उ॒रुधा॑रेव दोहते
અમારા માટે ઇન્દ્ર—શિવ, સ્નેહી મિત્ર—અશ્વધન, ગોધન અને યવ (જવ)નું ધન આપે; જાણે વિશાળ પ્રવાહવાળી ધારા જેવી દોહે (દૂધ આપે) તેમ.

इन्द्र॑ क्रतु॒विदं॑ सु॒तं सोमं॑ हर्य पुरुष्टुत । पिबा वृ॑षस्व॒ तातृ॑पिम्
હે ઇન્દ્ર, ક્રતુવિદ (યજ્ઞ-સંકલ્પના જાણનાર), હે હરિ (તામ્રવર્ણ), પુરુષ્ટુત (માનવો દ્વારા બહુ સ્તુત)—દબાવેલો સોમ પીઓ; તેનાથી વૃષભ સમ બળવાન બનો, પૂર્ણ તૃપ્તિ સુધી.
It is primarily a śānti/protective recitation: it uses the Sun’s victorious rising to drive away harmful influence (agha) and restore auspiciousness.
In this short RV-derived set, Sūrya clears away harm through light and forward motion, while Indra is invoked as the beneficent ally who ‘yields’ prosperity and, when strengthened by Soma, stabilizes protection and success.
