RV 9.2 is a Soma Pavamāna hymn in which the seer urges Soma to stream through the filter (pavitra), becoming bright, forceful, and fit for offering. As Soma is purified, he is invited to “enter Indra,” empowering divine heroism, victory, and the sacrificial work. The hymn culminates by praising Soma as the ancient inner Self of the yajña, the essential power that makes the offering effective.

Mantra 1

पवस्व देववीरति पवित्रं सोम रंह्या । इन्द्रमिन्दो वृषा विश ॥

Flow, O Soma, beyond the sieve into the luminous forward-impulsion; enter Indra, O Bull, O drop of delight—so that the divine heroism in us may be awakened and made victorious.

Mantra 2

आ वच्यस्व महि प्सरो वृषेन्दो द्युम्नवत्तमः । आ योनिं धर्णसिः सदः ॥

Be uttered forth—manifest, O mighty outpouring, O bull-like Indu most rich in luminous power; take thy seat in the womb, in the firm-established home of the rite within us.

Mantra 3

अधुक्षत प्रियं मधु धारा सुतस्य वेधसः । अपो वसिष्ट सुक्रतुः ॥

They have milked out the beloved honey: the streams of the pressed Soma for the wise fashioner. O Vasiṣṭha, the waters—guided by a good will of intelligence—carry and clarify that sweetness in us.

Mantra 4

महान्तं त्वा महीरन्वापो अर्षन्ति सिन्धवः । यद्गोभिर्वासयिष्यसे ॥

The great waters, the mighty rivers, flow after thee, O Vast One, when thou art to be clothed with the rays of illumination—when delight is wrapped in the light-forms of knowledge.

Mantra 5

समुद्रो अप्सु मामृजे विष्टम्भो धरुणो दिवः । सोमः पवित्रे अस्मयुः ॥

The ocean in the waters has become clarified; the wide-staying support, the holder of heaven—Soma, in the purifier, seeks us and draws our being toward firmness and vastness.

Mantra 6

अचिक्रदद्वृषा हरिर्महान्मित्रो न दर्शतः । सं सूर्येण रोचते ॥

The potent tawny force has cried aloud—vast, pleasant to behold like a friend; it shines in harmony with the Sun: delight made one with the truth-light.

Mantra 7

गिरस्त इन्द ओजसा मर्मृज्यन्ते अपस्युवः । याभिर्मदाय शुम्भसे ॥

Thy words, O Indu, are cleansed by force—those eager for the work; by them thou art adorned for ecstasy: mantra purified into power becomes the ornament of inner rapture.

तं त्वा मदाय घृष्वय उ लोककृत्नुमीमहे । तव प्रशस्तयो महीः ॥

Thee we seek for the rapture, O fiery-ardent one, the maker of the worlds entire; vast are thy praises—because thy delight builds in us a complete and ordered creation.

Mantra 9

अस्मभ्यमिन्दविन्द्रयुर्मध्वः पवस्व धारया । पर्जन्यो वृष्टिमाँ इव ॥

For us, O Indu, desiring Indra, flow as honey in a steady stream—like Parjanya rich in rain: let the delight descend as nourishing power, increasing the inner growth.

Mantra 10

गोषा इन्दो नृषा अस्यश्वसा वाजसा उत । आत्मा यज्ञस्य पूर्व्यः ॥

O Indu, thou art the giver of rays, the giver of the true manhood, the giver of the swift life-force and the plenitude of power; thou art the ancient Self of the sacrifice—the inmost essence that makes the inner offering effective.
