यदासु मर्तो अमृतासु निस्पृक्सं क्षोणीभिः क्रतुभिर्न पृङ्क्ते । ता आतयो न तन्वः शुम्भत स्वा अश्वासो न क्रीळयो दन्दशानाः ॥

Transliteration

yád āsu márto amṛ́tāsu ni-spṛ́k sám kṣoṇī́bhir kratúbhir ná pṛ́ṅkte | tā́ ātáyo ná tanvàḥ śúmbhata svā́ aśvā́so ná krīḷáyo dándaśānāḥ ||

Translation

Wenn der Sterbliche, unberührt, sich nicht mit den Unsterblichen verbindet — weder durch die erdgründigen Kräfte noch durch die unterscheidenden Willenskräfte (krátu) —, dann schmücken jene Antriebe sein leibhaftes Wesen nicht: wie spielende Pferde, beißend und ruhelos, bleiben sie zwar die seinen, doch ungeordnet, unharmonisiert.
