Sukta 1.92
उदपप्तन्नरुणा भानवो वृथा स्वायुजो अरुषीर्गा अयुक्षत । अक्रन्नुषासो वयुनानि पूर्वथा रुशन्तं भानुमरुषीरशिश्रयुः ॥
úd apaptann aruṇā́ bhānávo vṛ́thā svāyújo áruṣīr gā́ ayukṣata | ákrann uṣā́so vayúnāni pū́rvathā rúśantaṃ bhā́num áruṣīr aśiśrayuḥ ||
Dawn recitation to inaugurate the day’s rite; supports the ‘raising’ (ud-) of the sacrifice and the awakening of the sacrificer
Ṛta as recurrence (pūrvathā), ordered powers (yuj) as inner discipline, vayunāni as discriminative wisdom
‘As of old’ indicates the invariant law by which light returns and re-establishes order.
Rays take station in bhānu: truth becomes a stable seat for consciousness.
Ascent and organization: energies rise, yoke themselves, and form a luminous order.
Aurobindonian: evolution of consciousness through repeated dawns; stabilization of illumination into knowledge.
dawn
Rays = illumined energies; yoking = inner discipline; cows = knowledges; shining radiance = stable truth-consciousness.
Feel the upward leap of light-energy; allow the mind to ‘self-yoke’ into a single rhythm of attention.
Ajna (illumined seeing) and Sahasrara (upward opening)
Ujjayi-light (very gentle) for 12 breaths, emphasizing upward inner lift on inhale.
Ascending, then stabilized luminous awareness.
First let the light rise without strain (vṛthā). Then deliberately ‘yoke’ thought, speech, and action to one intention; rest attention in the ‘shining radiance’ as a seat.
Maintain clear accent on udápaptan, aruṇā́, bhā́navo; let the second hemistich settle with longer holds on bhā́num.
First hemistich slightly quicker (leap/upward). Second hemistich slower and more grounded (taking station).
(ud apaptan): keep sandhi clear; double p audible, (svāyujāḥ): long ā; yuj as ‘yuj’ not ‘yog’, (ayukṣata): kṣ conjunct crisp, (aśiśrayuḥ): śi-śra- rhythm; final ḥ light
Rising brightness then steady resonance; avoid rushing the final cadence.
