Frequently Asked Questions

The hymn praises the Ādityas—especially Varuṇa, Mitra, and Aryaman—seen as divine powers who uphold truth, law, and right social order.

It says that the Ādityas maintain a vast cosmic ordinance (ṛta) through their fixed laws (vrata), giving rightful sovereignty and protecting human beings from harm and moral deviation.

Here kṣatra means legitimate, stabilizing authority that comes from alignment with cosmic and moral law—power that protects and orders life rather than dominating it.
