Sukta 9.10
अभि प्रिया दिवस्पदमध्वर्युभिर्गुहा हितम् । सूरः पश्यति चक्षसा ॥
abhí priyā́ divás padám adhvaryú-bhir gúhā hitám | sū́raḥ paśyati cákṣasā ||
آسمان کے محبوب مقام کی طرف, راز میں چھپا ہوا, ادھوریو کے ذریعے رکھا گیا؛ روشن بینا اسے بصیرت کی آنکھ سے دیکھتا ہے۔
Toward the beloved station of heaven, hidden in secrecy, set by the Adhvaryus; the luminous one sees it with the eye.
The ‘dear’ divine station (priyā divaḥ padam)—a higher plane of consciousness—lies concealed in the cave of the being (guhā hitam). By right works and exact inner operations (adhvaryu-bhiḥ: the doers of the sacrifice), it is established. Then the luminous seer-force (sūraḥ) perceives it by true vision (cakṣasā): realization becomes direct sight, not belief.
The highest truth is inwardly hidden; it becomes manifest through disciplined right action and is then known by direct seeing.
Hidden treasure, Vision, Heavenly station, Inner cave symbolism
Shows the Vedic synthesis of knowledge and works: the hidden ‘padam’ is set by adoration and exact practice, then revealed to the seer-vision.
Reveals the heavenly station by purification; supports the right works that establish the hidden truth in manifestation.
Secret unveiling: transforms ritual ‘doing’ into yogic method, culminating in direct vision.
Soma rite; verses describing the hidden heavenly goal established by ritual action and realized by vision

4 × ~11 syllables (approx.)
A searching movement (abhi … guhā hitam) resolving into a clear seeing (paśyati cakṣasā).
Invokes inward turning and then a decisive clarity—good for contemplative inquiry.
Adhvaryu’s role in placing/handling Soma and ritual implements; psychologically mapped to correct action that reveals the hidden heavenly station
During Pavāmāna sequences that connect Soma purification with attainment of ‘divaḥ padam’
Recited as Soma is prepared/offered; reinforces the intention of reaching the heavenly station through correct performance
A mantra for seekers balancing practice (discipline) with insight—use before sādhanā session or during retreats.
div- ‘shine/heaven’ from PIE *di̯ew- (daylight sky; cf. Zeus, Deus). guhā ‘cave/hidden place’ from √guh ‘to hide’ (PIE *gʰewH? uncertain; but Indo-Iranian clear). adhvaryu is ritual title (connected with adhvara ‘sacrifice’ < *adhvar- ‘non-injuring/ordered rite’ debated); here symbolically ‘right action’. √paś ‘see’ is Indo-Iranian; cakṣus as above.
hidden truth in the heart/cave, revelation through right action (adhvaryu), ascent to divya padam (heavenly station)
Adhvaryu symbolizes ṛta in action—exactness that makes the hidden station ‘set’ in the being.
Divaḥ padam is the satya-loka tendency: a stable truth-consciousness realized by seeing.
The concealed divine is installed in manifestation through right action; revelation completes creation.
Karma–Jñāna synthesis in Vedic form (works establish; vision realizes).
Heaven = higher mind/illumined consciousness; cave = heart-depth or subconscient concealment; sun-eye = truth-vision.
Contemplate the ‘beloved station’ as a real inner place; turn awareness into the heart-cave; let disciplined attention ‘set’ the station; then rest as the seer-eye opens.
anāhata (guhā/heart-cave) and ājñā (seer-eye)
Slow exhale into the heart (as if entering a cave), brief stillness, inhale to brow (as if lighting the cave).
Quiet inward absorption leading to luminous recognition.
Pair with a short vow of exact practice (adhvaryu principle): one precise discipline done daily; after chanting, sit 5 minutes in the heart-cave and watch for a subtle ‘place’ of peace to reveal itself.
Rigvedic udātta/anudātta/svarita; exact accenting requires the śākhā svara text.
Let abhi priyā be gentle; deepen tone on guhā hitam; brighten and clarify on paśyati cakṣasā.
adhvaryubhir: keep dhv cluster clear; do not drop ‘ya’, guhā: long ā at end, paśyati: ś is palatal; cakṣasā: kṣ clear, final ā long
inward, focused, softly luminous
