यथा॑ वृ॒त्र इ॒मा आप॑स्त॒स्तम्भ॑ वि॒श्वधा॑ य॒तीः । ए॒वा ते॑ अ॒ग्निना॒ यक्ष्मं॑ वैश्वान॒रेण॑ वारये

Sanskrit recitationAtharva Veda 6.85.3

yáthā vṛtrá imā́ ā́pas tastámbha viśvádhā yatī́ḥ | evā́ te agnínā yákṣmaṃ vaiśvānaréṇa vāráye

As Vṛtra stayed these Waters, flowing every way, and held them fast; even so with Agni, with Vaiśvānara, I ward from thee the wasting-sickness and repel it.

ดุจวฤตระ (Vṛtra) ขวางกั้นสายน้ำเหล่านี้ที่ไหลไปทุกทิศ แล้วตรึงไว้ให้หยุดนิ่ง ฉันใด—ฉันนั้น เราใช้อัคนี (Agni) ใช้ไวศวานระ (Vaiśvānara) ป้องกันยักษฺมะ (yákṣma) จากท่าน และขับไล่มันไป.
