FAQs

It reflects a common Purāṇic narrative pattern where sages (munayaḥ) transmit teachings and then relocate to a major sacred landscape (Kailāsa), linking ethical/soteriological promises (mukti) with culturally prominent pilgrimage geographies.

Mount Kailāsa (कैलासपर्वत), a trans-Himalayan sacred mountain traditionally associated with Śiva; in modern scholarship it is commonly identified with the Kailash region in western Tibet (near Lake Manasarovar), though Purāṇic geography is often symbolic as well as locational.

The verse emphasizes the ideal of pursuing lasting liberation (śāśvatī mukti) and portrays sages as exemplars who follow disciplined spiritual trajectories connected to recognized cultural heritage sites.
