Praise of the Sacred Geography of Mathurā
tava śiṣyā ca dāsī ca tvām ahaṃ śaraṇaṅgatā || jagaddhātā jagajjyotir jagatprabhur atandritaḥ ||
Pṛthivī (Dharaṇī)
It reflects a common Purāṇic narrative posture: the inquirer adopts disciplehood to authorize the forthcoming instruction on tīrthas and dharma.
No geographic site is named here; the verse establishes the interpersonal frame for the sacred-geography teaching that follows.
It models humility and readiness to learn: ethical knowledge is approached through disciplined inquiry and acknowledgment of guidance.
