Sukta 6.46
ये गव्यता मनसा शत्रुमादभुरभिप्रघ्नन्ति धृष्णुया । अध स्मा नो मघवन्निन्द्र गिर्वणस्तनूपा अन्तमो भव ॥
yé gavyatā́ manásā śátrum ādabhúr abhi-praghnánti dhṛṣṇu-yā́ | ádha smā no maghavann indra girvaṇas tanū-pā́ ántamo bhava ||
Prayer for intimate protection during conflict/contest; also suitable as a meditative formula for inner battle and safeguarding the embodied instrument.
inner enemies (śatru) and conquest by daring will (dhṛṣṇu), mantra reciprocity (girvaṇas), protection of embodiment (tanū-pā)
The seeker’s daring is righteous (ṛta) when driven by light-seeking rather than aggression.
‘Go-seeking mind’ implies truth-orientation; protection follows truth-alignment.
Release of light (go) from concealment by striking the enemy of knowledge.
Integral Yoga resonance: aspiration (gavyatā) + divine force (Indra) = transformation of the embodied nature.
dawn-impulse implied (light-seeking)
Go = illuminations; battle = tapasya; tanū = the psychophysical instrument to be divinized.
Shift from problem-fixation to ‘light-seeking mind’; invite Indra to stand as inner sentinel.
ājñā (illumined direction) with support from maṇipūra (courage)
Brisk-energetic: 12 slow counts inhale, 12 exhale (no hold) for 6 rounds; then chant once and sit.
Collected, courageous, inwardly guarded.
Before chanting, formulate the ‘enemy’ as a pattern (not a person). On ‘tanūpāḥ antamaḥ’ feel a protective presence inside the chest/spine, steadying the whole body.
Tri-svara; keep ‘gavyatā manasā’ linked smoothly; lift on invocatory ‘indra’ and ‘girvaṇas’ where marked.
Mark the pivot: slight pause after first pāda; then a more intimate tone on ‘adha smā no… tanūpāḥ’.
gavyatā: keep ‘vy’ conjunct clear, ādabhur: long ā; ‘bh’ aspirated, abhipraghnanti: keep cluster -pragh- distinct, girvaṇas: retroflex ṇ; avoid ‘girvanas’
Start forceful, end inward and protective.
