Sukta 3.1
अवर्धयन्त्सुभगं सप्त यह्वीः श्वेतं जज्ञानमरुषं महित्वा । शिशुं न जातमभ्यारुरश्वा देवासो अग्निं जनिमन्वपुष्यन् ॥
ávaṛdhayants subhágaṃ saptá yahvī́ḥ śvetáṃ jajñānám aruṣáṃ mahitvā́ | śíśuṃ na jātám abhy ā́rur aśvā́ devā́so agním jániman vapuṣyan ||
ఏడు యాహ్వీ (మహత్తర జలధారలు) ఆ సుభగుణ్ణి వృద్ధి చేశాయి—జన్మంలో శ్వేతం, మహిమలో అరుణం. నవజాత శిశువుని చేరేందుకు అశ్వాలు పరుగెత్తినట్లు, దేవులు అగ్నియొద్దకు వేగించారు; వారు అతని జననాన్ని పోషించి, అతని రూపాన్ని దీప్తిమంతం చేశారు.
