Sukta 2.12
यो जात एव प्रथमो मनस्वान्देवो देवान्क्रतुना पर्यभूषत् । यस्य शुष्माद्रोदसी अभ्यसेतां नृम्णस्य मह्ना स जनास इन्द्रः ॥
yó jātá evá prathamó mánasvān devó devā́n kratúnā paryábhūṣat | yásya śúṣmād ródasī abhyàsetāṃ nṛmṇásya mahnā́ sá janāsa índraḥ ||
పుట్టగానే మొదటివాడై నిలిచినవాడు—మనస్వి దేవుడు; తన క్రతు (సంకల్ప-కార్యశక్తి)తో దేవులను పరివేష్టించి అధిగమించినవాడు; అతని శుష్మ (తేజోబల) వల్ల ద్యావా-పృథివీ కంపించాయి—అతని నృమ్ణ (వీరపరాక్రమ) మహిమచేత: ఓ జనులారా, అతడే ఇంద్రుడు.
