Sukta 1.31
त्वं नो अग्ने तव देव पायुभिर्मघोनो रक्ष तन्वश्च वन्द्य । त्राता तोकस्य तनये गवामस्यनिमेषं रक्षमाणस्तव व्रते ॥
tvaṃ no agne tava deva pāyubhir maghono rakṣa tanvaś ca vandya | trātā tokasya tanaye gavām asy ani-meṣaṃ rakṣamāṇas tava vrate ||
హే దేవ అగ్నీ! నీ దివ్య ‘పాయుభిః’—రక్షణలతో—మమ్మల్ని, మఘోనః—యజ్ఞదాతలను—రక్షించు; అలాగే హే వంద్యా, మా ‘తన్వః’—దేహాన్ని—కూడా కాపాడు. నీవు మా ‘తోక’—వంశానికి—, ‘తనయే’—సంతానానికి—, ‘గవాం’—గోవులు/కిరణాలకు—త్రాతవు; నీ ‘వ్రతే’—ఋత-నియమంలో—‘అనిమేషం’—నిద్రలేని జాగ్రత్తతో—కాపాడుతూ మమ్మల్ని నిలుపు.
