Sukta 2
उदि॒मां मात्रां॑ मिमीमहे॒ यथाप॑रं॒ न मासा॑तै । श॒ते श॒रत्सु॒ नो पु॒रा
údīmā́ṃ mā́trāṃ mimīmahe yáthā́paraṃ ná mā́sātai | śaté śáratsu no purā́
Upward this measure we do mete, that it be not thereafter spent in months: a hundred autumns—so for us, as in the days of old.
మేము ఈ ‘మాత్రా’ను పైకి దిశగా కొలుస్తాము; తరువాత అది నెలలలో క్షీణించిపోకుండా. మనకు—పూర్వకాలంలాగానే—నూరు శరదృతువులు కలుగుగాక.
