For us, O Indu, desiring Indra, flow as honey in a stream, like Parjanya rich in rain.
The seeker asks Soma to descend as madhu (honeyed delight) in a steady dhārā (continuous stream), because the goal is Indra (indra-yuḥ): the illumined mind that conquers the Coverer. Soma’s rainlike flow (Parjanya simile) is the nourishing descent of Ananda that feeds growth, makes the inner fields fertile, and supports Indra’s victories—illumination sustained by bliss.
Steady joy is nourishment: when bliss flows continuously, it strengthens the mind’s light and enables persistent overcoming of inner resistance.
Abundance, Nourishment, Descent, Indra-Soma synergy
Often integrates Soma and Indra: delight must serve illumination and victory over obstruction; emphasizes steady flow (dhārā) rather than sporadic ecstasy.
The seer’s psychology: Ananda is asked to rain steadily so Indra (illumined mind) can act continuously—victory depends on nourishment from above.
Nourishing flow that strengthens the gods; especially empowers Indra for the release of light.
Continuous sweet Ananda that feeds illumination and endurance in sadhana.
Soma-yāga: prayer for Soma to flow richly and empower Indra; recited during soma flow/offerings

Supplicatory yet flowing; the cadence supports the image of a continuous stream
Encourages a felt sense of ‘dhārā’—smooth continuity in breath and attention.
Prayer for Soma to flow abundantly and sweetly for the sacrificers; ritually parallels copious Soma flow; psychologically asks for a rain-like descent of bliss nourishing inner growth.
As soma is poured/filtered and offered; invoking abundance like rain
Chant with pouring action (dhārā) or while watching the filtered flow
For times of dryness or fatigue: invoke a steady ‘rain’ of sweetness to restore energy and clarity; pair with slow breathing.
indra-yu: yu from √yu ‘yoke/join/seek’—Soma seeking Indra = delight seeking illumined power. dhārā from √dhṛ/√dhā ‘flow/hold’ semantic of continuous holding-stream. parjanya is rain deity; ‘rain’ metaphor internalised as descent of nourishing delight-force. madhu again as PIE *médʰu inheritance, here ‘sweet essence’.
Descent of force (rain) as grace, Union of delight with illumined power (Indra)
Dhārā symbolizes ṛta’s continuity—right order as an unbroken current.
Indra as seeker-goal implies movement toward truth-light and decisive clarity.
Fertilization: descent of force that makes inner growth possible.
Vedic yoga of descent-and-ascent: Soma descends as Ananda; Indra rises as illumined mastery.
rainy/monsoon imagery (suggested by Parjanya)
Honey = sweetness of Ananda; stream = continuous attention/flow of consciousness; rain = grace nourishing the inner ‘fields’ (mind-life-body).
Invoke a continuous honeyed flow of joy from above the head down the spine/front channel, feeding the heart and strengthening clear perception (Indra).
Sahasrāra → Anāhata; stabilizing into Ājñā (illumined mind)
‘Dhārā-breath’: slow inhale 6, exhale 6, imagining a continuous stream; optionally add gentle bhrāmarī on exhale to ‘sweeten’ the flow.
Nourished clarity: calm sweetness supporting decisive inner light.
When effort becomes dry, do not force victory—first ask Soma to ‘rain’ steadily. After a few minutes of sweetness, turn the mind to one clear task (Indra) and act.
Rigvedic accents; maintain smooth continuity to embody ‘dhārayā’.
Slightly emphasize ‘indra-yuḥ’ (aim) and ‘dhārayā’ (mode). Keep the last pāda soft and descending like rain.
asmabhyam: ‘bhya’ cluster clear, indav: vocative of indu; pronounce ‘in-dav’ with light v, indrayuḥ: ‘yuḥ’ ends with audible ḥ, madhvaḥ: dh aspirated; ‘dhv’ cluster careful, pavasva: short a; v not w, dhārayā: long ā; ‘yā’ long, parjanyo: ‘rj’ cluster clear, vṛṣṭimān iva: ṛ vocalic; ṣṭ retroflex; link iva smoothly
Smooth, warm, nectar-like; avoid sharp attacks—let sound ‘pour’.
