O mighty-armed prince, the funeral rites that are required to be performed for the departed king ought to be done carefully without any shortcomings.
Dharma prioritizes obligatory rites and responsibilities (kartavya) even amid sorrow; honoring the dead through proper rites is a truth-bound social and spiritual duty.
Vasiṣṭha directs Bharata to proceed immediately and attentively with Daśaratha’s funeral rites.
Bharata’s capacity for duty-bound composure is being called forth—acting rightly despite personal anguish.
