Sukta 1.61
अस्मा इदु सप्तिमिव श्रवस्येन्द्रायार्कं जुह्वा समञ्जे । वीरं दानौकसं वन्दध्यै पुरां गूर्तश्रवसं दर्माणम् ॥
asmā́ íd u sáptim iva śravasyèndrāyārkáṃ juhvā́ sám añje | vīráṃ dānókasam vandádhyai purā́ṃ gūrtá-śravasaṃ darmā́ṇam ||
A ele, sim, a esse, como quem atrela uma parelha veloz pela fama, eu unjo o canto para Indra, colocando-o sobre a língua do sacrifício (juhvā). Para venerar o Herói que habita na casa das dádivas, sustentáculo das fortalezas, de renome firmemente estabelecido — para que o poder protetor permaneça firme em nossas cidades interiores.
