On Nārāyaṇa’s Ten Avatāras and Eightfold Manifestations, and the Account of King Aśvaśirā
It illustrates a common Purāṇic narrative technique: embedding teachings within a chain of dialogue and transmission (here involving Dharaṇī, Nārada, and the exemplary king Priyavrata), which helps situate doctrinal and ethical material within remembered royal and sage lineages.
No specific geographic location is named in this verse; it functions primarily as a dialogic transition within the chapter’s narrative frame.
The verse emphasizes reflective accountability and humility in action—asking what has been accomplished “through favor (prasāda) of the Supreme,” framing human achievement as aligned with higher moral order rather than mere personal power.
